I talk to the kids about this communication thing and how much effort is put into people telling everybody else what they think of what is going on around them in blogs etc. And I ask the question, "Who is interested in reading this flood of personal and totally inane drivel? Well, I was told the other day that this blog is read and that "whom it may concern" is waiting for more outpourings from this fountain of wisdom. Sarcasm apart, I suppose I must pull out the proverbial finger and write a bit. Time has been at a premium and it is true that I have lost interest for the reasons mentioned above. Is blog-writing a kind of therapy? A sort of quiet and selfish little scream trying to raise interest in something no-one cares about? Probably. With a few exceptions, it is probably the person writing the blog who is the reason blogs are read rather than the writing itself. Although I must admit that one or two have been useful in my job as a teacher in the culture/communication subject I am involved in. There are a lot of intelligent and well thought through ideas for this subject to be found in blogs and Marita in Stavanger is a particularly good read. She is a shy and reflected person when you talk to her but seems to find a super way to express herself through blogging. So there is another good reason to do it!
The Obama acceptance speech was what we all expected, a brilliant piece of inspirational retorics which brought a tear to the eye of this cynical middle-aged fart. I have heard it all before, but this man seems to have what we are all in need of, a realistic optimism which opens our eyes to what is possible to achieve for the good of everyone. He gave Bushy Boy a vote of thanks in pure generosity before proceeding to slaughter the results of his eight year reign. I'm not sure if Bush grasped the point of what was being said by Obama. The sheepish look on his face didn't give away any clues. They seemed very chummy afterwards, too. The best scene had to be the ex vice-president being bundled into his limmo from a wheelchair. He had pulled his back the other day apparently. Seeing this gangster Chaney leaving public life in this way was a symbolic piece of theatre and the laughter on Obama and Bush's faces said it all.
Time has caught me up again. Instead of leaving this to dry, I will post straight away and see what happens.

Heya!
Some friends and I were googling old teachers for the fun of it, and I came over a lovely picture of you, which ended in me reading some of your posts (todays and one from waaaay back when Newcastle beat someone 3 - 0 ...)
Got to admit that I find some of the posts here quite entertaining, so I'll hang around and keep reading them.
(BTW, are you able to guess who I am? Two hints; I was a student of yours back in 05/06. And I'm a boy. Or man ..)
G'day!
