St George's Day and dragon slaying.

I know I've said this many many many times before, but it bears repetition here. The drive over the hill from Drammen to Kongsberg is half an hour of enjoyment for a foreigner like me in this country. Today, a low sun was reflected in the snow on the surrounding hills and the mountains in the distance were a pink shade the lipstick producers can only dream about. A bit nippy, but absolutely lovely, and how people, one or two of whom I know have a look at these meanderings now and again, can say they like their journeys to work in the nation's capital, not to mention having to be there all day before reversing the exercise later on in the afternoon, simply defeats my logic.
It's St George's Day today and as a true Englishman , I am wondering which dragon I should go and challenge. I can't see any smoke anywhere so maybe all the firebreathing dragons are on there way in to Oslo to thump their scaly tails down the litter-strewn streets elbowing their way between East European beggars, drug-addicts with plastic cups, Nigerian prostitutes and roadworks blocking the pavements. I would probably convert to being a dragon if my day was like that!

And now I have dealt with a couple of miscreants (note the Middle Ages style of language, all very St George's Day) who bunked off from two lessons and a test yesterday. Contrite and asking forgiveness, this was of course granted. I have been pleased with the efforts put in by the second year electro class today and last week. Oral presentations which were not too bad at all, a couple of them were in fact very good. This cheers me up no end and today is a good day after the slight downward turn I experienced yesterday. Life's like that.

What about the upcoming president of South Africa, Zuma or something, a Zulu chieftain anyway, who has condemned Mugabe and the way he has taken over the election in Zimbabwe. Excellent news which I hope will be followed up later. The Chinese trying to fly weapons into the country in the face og port embargos says it all about a Chinese leadership who know everything about democracy, human rights and freedom. Good on 'im!
