Swastikas and orchids

Top stories in the news yesterday consisted of a woman who had been sitting on the toilet for two years and had to go to hospital with the seat part of her nether anatomy to be surgically removed. An old people's home which has been functioning fine for years but has caused "disgust and shock" when a picture taken from the air showed it to look like a swastika in plan. An finally, the Shannon story which Sky News has had a collective news orgasm with all day. This little girl was thankfully found after three weeks absence, being hidden in a settee not from from her home in Dewsbury. It's a crazy world. The Jersey children's home where they have found bones and suspect a pedophile scandal is a story which remains quiet but is bound to explode soon. This sounds like a nightmare come true...shackles, bodies, sex parties and God only knows what else. No-one has said anything about who has been working there. The whole thing is a bomb waiting to go off.
I made my own small contribution with a two minute job to the BBC about the pregnancy in the Royal Family here. Totally uninteresting and difficult to keep tongue out of cheek. I also got the cathedrals book to its new home. E seems very grateful but doesn't get the picture. Or what I think is more precise, pretends not to understand. It is a cowardly way to behave, sort of putting off right decisions and blaming it on everything else. Circumstances don't decide your life, you do! That's my idea anyway. Maybe I've got it all wrong myself. Perhaps I will just accept things as they are. Whatever, silence has descended on that little chain of communication again, most probably for the best.
Billy Connolly was on Parkinson last night. He was funny about getting old, nasal hair and polar bears. One or two ideas that can be spun on for my speech for Arnulv in April. We'll see.
It's a beautiful day. All the skiing mountain migrants from Oslo are probably out with their oranges and chocolate and good for them. I'm happy with my company, Kevin and an ice-free walk over Nordbykollen. I may buy M1 an orchid later on, the other one had died and looks horrible. I can't keep orchids, Anny is an expert but keeps her secrets close to her chest. M2 has sent a couple of complimentary messages. Whooping cough and not well so it's best to keep well clear. Maybe best to keep well clear otherwise too, but I was never one to follow my own good advice!
And John and R will be round to watch Newcastle tomorrow. That should be nice. I look forward to seeing him again, and I know Kevin does, too.
